Food Tracking

How to log a meal

Search for it, snap a photo, scan a barcode or type it in: four quick ways to log what you ate.

How to log a meal
Step 1

Pick the meal and search

In the Journal tab, tap Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Snack. Type what you ate in Search for your food.

Step 2

See the matches

Tap the arrow. Each result shows the brand, calories and serving size. Results can take a few seconds.

Step 3

Add it

Tap + on the closest match. It’s added to that meal and your totals update. Next time it’s waiting under Recent.

Step 4

Or snap a photo of your plate

Tap Snap Meal, fit your plate in the frame and tap the shutter. The app spots the foods and estimates the calories and macros. Check each item, change the portion (½, 1x, 1.5x or 2x) or remove anything that’s wrong, choose the meal, then tap Log Meal. The first time, the app asks you to allow its AI features. Free accounts get 3 meal scans a day. (The plate in this clip is an example photo.)

Step 5

Or scan a barcode

For packaged food, tap Scan Barcode and hold the barcode inside the green square. The app looks the product up and lists it like a search result, so tap + to add it. If it can’t find the product, it offers Search by Name, or you can use Custom Entry. (The yogurt in this clip is an example photo.)

Step 6

Or type it in yourself

Tap Custom Entry for home cooking or anything you can’t find. Give it a name and the calories; brand, protein, carbs, fat and fiber are optional. Tap Save and it’s added to the meal.
